Sweet Thing

this video sucks, but this is my favorite song of all time. I have so many but this rises to the top every time. click the link, hit play and continue to browse around, because the video is useless. But Van is so good.

COLOR ME PINK

Why am I obsessed with hot pink lips? I love pops of color. Apple red nails, a vibrant clutch, a turquoise or lapis ring... I think this stems from the fact that most of my wardrobe consists of neutrals. I have a winter uniform, which right now is a mens xxl cashmere camel sweater (crewneck and awesomely baggy) with my jbrands and moto boots. It's boring but it works. While it does make me feel drabby, frumpy and unimaginative at times, I can always punch things up with an interesting hit of color. And my new "pop" is going to be my favorite color of the moment- hot pink. I'm determined to get clear skin and find the right shade of pink lipstick (thinking I'll have to go with a raspberry) for spring. Its so fresh and youthful- more so than the red that dominated lips for f/w10. Here are a few of the gorgeous pink lips I love. And a special thanks to Raf Simons and his vision for Jil Sander's SS11 palette. You've inspired me for sure.
Nars Bento Box Lip Palette

So, I'll admit it. I bought this Nars Kabuki lip set. I spent 125$ on two huge ceramic pots of completely impractical lip shades. In my defense, I thought the pots of color would be small, able to fit in my purse and practical. Well, it turns out this "kabuki lip set" is none of the above. That being said, the colors are gorgeous and the packaging is beautiful and includes a mahogany wooden display box and a bamboo wrapped lip brush, which explains why they think its okay to charge anyone 125$ for two lipsticks. I don't completely regret my purchase, but part of me thinks I should have splurged for Tom Ford's Cherry Lush lipstick instead. or maybe in addition to? I'm a complete product whore.

If anyone can find me these shoes....

I would be willing to give you commission of some sort. A reward. I can find anything online, on ebay, in stores... and I cannot find these shoes anywhere. They are all I want and I cant stop thinking about all the things I would wear them with. The patent camel is perfect. The gold detailing is just right. And the style is classic with a twist and they definitely have that signature tongue-in-cheek sense of humor Miu Miu is known for.

Online Shopping Directory

I'm an online shopping expert. I'm serious. Here's a directory of my favorite online fashion sites. Interiors/Home Furnishings directory to come later. Most of them you've probably heard of but hopefully there will be some you have yet to explore.

Zoe- Brands like Phillip Lim, A.Wang and the like dominate the inventory at Zoe

FarFetch- A new site offering a fun, unique experience that allows customers to buy the best fashion from hundreds of boutiques around the world. Find Vintage Alaia, Maje, Marni and everything in between at this destination.

Otte- One of my favorite nyc boutiques, this site offers brands like Rachel Comey, Porter Grey and L'Agence.

LaGarconne- My Favorite. The best of everything
(not including net-a-porter, which is the best of the best)

Pixie Market- Fantastic price point, super trendy clothes & accessories

Nasty Gal- MinkPink, BBDakota, a well edited selection of new & vintage clothes & accessories

Opening Ceremony- Everything from Rodarte to Karen Walker Sunnies. The most well curated collection of high fashion, up and coming designers and unique collaborations.

Charm and Chain- the best place to find jewelry online.

Proenza does it again

I've found the first pair of sandals I'll be buying for spring. Proenza Schouler is a go-to of mine when it comes to finding the best accessories of the season. These are exactly what I've been looking for. The linen and black combo is so chic, the design is simple and they will go with everything while adding a graphic contrast to girly, floaty, summery pieces. Find them here at LaGarconne.

I've been a fan of Jean Michele Basquiat's work for a very long time. I grew up hearing the name from my Dad (a mad-genius artist himself) and recently watched a documentary about him called The Radiant Child. The movie was incredible and provides a glimpse into Basquiat's life, work and death. A must-see for any Contemporary art lover.

SPRING

With 18 inches of snow falling outside, all I can think of are bright florals, 70's camels and light silky tops, hot pink lips, tissue thin tees, high wasted shorts and minimal sandals.
